The U.S. Government is engaged in the following actions to limit access to academic research that is crucial for the health and well-being of the global community, including:
creating lists of words that are either now forbidden or flagged within federally funded research proposals and publications
removing long-established data and information from federal agency websites
restricting allowable co-authors for scientists and scholars in publications that emerge from federally funded research
Read stories about the censorship of research and teaching in higher education, as told by the researchers and teachers themselves.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO FIGHT CENSORSHIP?
Attend/promote an upcoming webinar with scholars and experts who view the current attacks on academic freedom as an existential threat to higher education and the broader community. View a list of public statements supporting research and higher education against threats from the Trump administration. Suggest a resource to include.
Write a Letter to the Editor to broaden public awareness of what is at stake. Contact your elected officials to demand that they fight censorship. Use our call script and background information to help you make your case. Provide a testimonial explaining the impact of censorship on your work and the broader community.
Support instances of resistance to U.S. government censorship and promote venues for scholars to share, safeguard, and preserve their work, beyond the reach of censorship. Sign the Declaration to #DefendResearch Against U.S. Government Censorship to publicly condemn the censorship of academic research and join over 5000+ signatories.
